Input Monitors.

PrintFaqtory provides an Input Monitor for each connected Comm Port, Network Serial Converter, Network File Monitor and hardware based converter. Each monitor maintains a count of the total number of bytes received, total bytes for the current report, the number of reports received by this input and the idle time between reports.

Right clicking on a monitor and selecting ‘Settings’ from the menu brings up the Settings screen above. This screen allows for setting a maximum idle time-out period. If this period is exceeded, then the TCP/comm port connection will be reset. It is not unknown for TCP/comm ports, over several months of operation, to lockup (usually caused by corrupt data setting important port parameters). In the unlikely event that this is the cause of the loss of communications (and not the cable hanging half on/half off) then this will force both ends to reestablish the connection.
