Installing PrintFaqtory.
Before installing PrintFaqtory on any other version of Windows other than XP, please ensure that your version of ‘Microsoft Data Access Components’ is at least version 2.6. The latest version of MDAC (currently 2.7) can be downloaded here. One of the supported databases, SQL Server, Oracle 8/9i or MySQL must be available before installing PrintFaqtory. If you are planning to use MySQL as the backend database, MyODBC must also be installed.
If you have downloaded PrintFaqtory, run the downloaded PrintFaqtory.exe program. If you are installing from the PrintFaqtory CD, run the Setup.exe program from the root directory. After InstallShield has installed the application into your directory of choice, check the ‘Run PrintFaqtory’ checkbox and click the Finish button. The PrintFaqtory configuration will now start and ‘Connection Criteria’ screen below opens. Select your preferred database from the ‘Database Type’ dropdown and select the DSN Name from the ‘DSN Name’ dropdown. Note: PrintFaqtory automatically generates DSNs for SQL Server (PrintFaqtory_SQL) and MySQL (PrintFaqtory_MySQL). For Oracle, a DSN must be configured. Click here for details. If the database is MySQL, enter ‘root’ as the User Name and ‘password’ as the password. For other databases, enter the relevant User Name/Password combination.

Once the connection to the database has been successfully established, the ‘Creating PrintFaqtory Database’ screen below opens.

After the database creation process has completed, the PrintFaqtory configuration process is complete and PrintFaqtory is ready for use.
Note: closing PrintFaqtory with the close box will only hide PrintFaqtory. The only way to shut down PrintFaqtory is from the PrintFaqtory icon in the Taskbar.
