Technical Requirements.

Operating System.

For such a powerful and versatile application, PrintFaqtory’s requirements are surprisingly modest. It will run on all versions of Windows from 95 onwards (on Win9X, OPC is very difficult but if the OPC client will run then PrintFaqtory’s OPC server is running also), however we don’t recommend anything less then Windows NT4.

Windows 95, 98, ME (support requests are likely to produce ‘format drive, re-install OS’)

Hardware.

PrintFaqtory runs quite happily on a Pentium1 166 with 64MB running NT4 and processing only a few reports a day. If the reports are comming in thick and fast then it is the database requirements that dictate the hardware required rather than PrintFaqtory’s. On a 1GHZ+ PC with 256MB and several tens (hundreds!) of Gigabytes of hard disk space then the PrintFaqtory/database requirements are no longer a concern.

Software.

PrintFaqtory requires Microsoft Data Access Components, version 2.6 or better and Internet Explorer 5.5 or better (as a service pack!).

If your OS is anything other than XP, to ensure that you have the latest version of Microsoft Data Access Components installed (always a good idea), download and install MDAC here.

The PrintFaqtory Setup will inspect your installation and inform you of any missing/out of date components.

Database.

PrintFaqtory requires Microsoft SQL Server 2000 (Data Engine or better), Oracle 8/9i or MySQL. All of these databases can be downloaded free, at the following addresses:

Microsoft SQL Server 2000 Data Engine.
Oracle 8i or 9i Personal Edition. Very large download! Requires registration.
MySQL. Highly recommended. Must also install the MySQL ODBC driver
